Nestled in the lush green heart of the Maitai Valley Motor Camp, Ahi Mahi Sauna is your space to pause, reconnect, and recharge. Surrounded by native bush and right next to a Maitai River swimming hole, our wood and hemp sauna offers the perfect blend of heat therapy and nature’s calm.
Whether you’re winding down after a bike ride or hike, soaking up the stillness of the valley, or simply taking time out for yourself — Ahi Mahi is here to help you feel grounded, restored, and energised.

We are proud supporters of Friends of the Maitai: a local group dedicated to protecting the cool, clear and clean flow of our river. They guide us in caring for the swimming hole, run riverside plantings and monitor water quality. Because of their work, our community gets to enjoy an incredible cold-plunge experience. In return, we donate a portion of our profits to support their ongoing mahi.

Yes, recommended. Spots may book out well in advance, but we have on-site payment options available for last-minute bookings.

Swimwear is compulsory in communal sessions. Private is optional.
We recommend two towels, one to sit on (must have), one to dry off after the session.
We provide filtered drinking water, but a bottle is recommended.

Absolutely! The Maitai River is right beside the sauna — the perfect cold plunge.

For communal sessions, the minium age is 16 years (unless by prior arrangement).
For private sessions, the responsibility is with the hirer.

For communal sessions, we limit the available spots to 9 to give you more room.
For a private booking, you can bring up to 10 adults, another 2-3 if you like it up close and personal, by prior arrangement with us.

Yes, we host many different groups, wellness retreats, birthday parties, wedding anniversaries, just to name a few. Get in touch to help us make your event special!

At this stage, we cannot do cancellations. You can re-book your appointment up to 24 hours in advance online as often as you would like.

There is public car parking right next to the sauna. We have our own, safe, dedicated bike rack.
